South Chingford Foundation School

Transition to Arbor MIS

As we have moved from SIMS to our new Management Information System (MIS), Arbor, we understand that parents and carers may have questions. Below you'll find answers to the most commonly asked queries to help guide you through this transition. If you need additional support, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Why did the school decide to switch from SIMS to Arbor?

After a thorough review, we found that SIMS was no longer meeting our needs. We decided to transition to Arbor to streamline the apps and resources parents need to sign up for and regularly log into, making it easier to manage multiple platforms.

Why was the transition to Arbor implemented in April?

Our contract with SIMS runs on the financial year from April to April, not the academic year. Implementing Arbor in April was necessary to avoid committing to another three-year contract with SIMS.

How will this transition affect my child's access to revision materials and timetables?

We are providing exam students with the required revision materials and timetables. Timetables are also available for the rest of the school. If you need any specific information, please contact your child's Head of Year or the main school office.

Will we lose access to information previously sent through Edulink?

Similar to a factory reset on a mobile phone or computer, we will not be able to retrieve information previously sent to parents or students. However, our systems do have all this information, so if there is anything you require, please let us know.

How can I get assistance with setting up a new Arbor account?

The Arbor app has not yet been sent to parents, but support will be provided when this is set up.  For the time being parents can access behaviour, homework timetables and receive announcements through class charts.  If you require your log in, please contact the school.
