South Chingford Foundation School

Science

Science at South Chingford Foundation School sparks curiosity and helps students understand the world around them. At Key Stage 3, students follow a balanced programme of biology, chemistry and physics, with practical investigations embedded throughout to build confidence and scientific enquiry skills.

At GCSE, students study topics such as genetics, chemical reactions and energy transfer. They follow either the Combined Science pathway or the Triple Science route, depending on their aspirations and attainment. Lessons blend clear theoretical understanding with hands on experiments, helping students make links between scientific ideas and real world applications.

Enrichment opportunities, including Science Club and revision workshops, support learning and encourage students to develop their interests beyond the classroom.
