SHINE Re-Launches its intervention programmme for year 7's

Our hugely successful intervention programme for Year 7 launched on Saturday 12th October with a focus on  learners who are at level 3 or level 4 in English and Maths, new EAL learners and our pupil premium students.

Ms Olejnik, our SHINE Project Manager, recruited over 70 students and we had a full house at 9.30am on a sunny Saturday morning. Pupils took part in activities with a literacy and numeracy focus, but could also choose from a range of activities that they might not get a chance to take part in ordinarily, including, arts and crafts, science experiments and sports.

Pupils also received a FREE school lunch and are looking forward to their first trip out in November with a visit to Cambridge University, which will focus on thier aspirational goals while at Rushcroft and beyond.

Good luck SHINE students this year; evidence from last year showed that SHINE students made better progress than those not involved in SHINE.
