Our Specialist Drama teacher introduces students to the world of Drama from Year 7 in a safe and enjoyable way through games and practical activities. Students develop skills in improvisation, script writing, mask work and storytelling. They have the opportunity to perform in school festivals, assemblies, talent shows and of course the school productions. Students take part in Stage Combat and Physical Theatre workshops run by very popular and experienced companies who work with professionals in the Performing Arts industry.

Trips are organised to the West End as well as local theatres to enable our students to be inspired by the performances on offer and there are a range of strong partnerships with Arts organisations.

Drama boosts self-confidence, communication and teamwork skills enabling students to discover the world around them from an alternative perspective. At South Chingford we make cross-curricular links with the other Arts subjects and Citizenship, with a common theme to the work and the opportunity to develop Drama pieces exploring the real life learning of the Citizenship curriculum. Drama  is a popular choice for KS4 students.
