VISIT BY MR IAIN DUNCAN SMITH

On15th March, Mr Iain Duncan Smith, our local M.P. and Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, visited Rush Croft. He met with 5 students from Chingford Foundation School and Rush Croft who had just passed their Bronze and Silver Arts Award. The Silver award students were from Chingford Foundation School and Mr Duncan Smith spoke with them about their project on Parliament and the way in which they taught pupils at Parkside Primary School. He also looked at the photographic evidence that they produced.

Shona and Mariam from Rush Croft have just been awarded their Bronze Arts Award, the first two students to achieve this award at Rush Croft. Mr Duncan Smith spent time speaking to them about their portfolios. Mariam’s photography, especially her art work on Lana del Rey, was outstanding. Mr Duncan Smith also told her that even the Prime Minister, David Cameron, liked listening to Lana del Rey!

Shona spoke about her piano performance and her recent piano exam and grading. He also commented on the photographs Shona had taken at the Louvre, in Paris, where she was able to take a picture of the Mona Lisa and other famous paintings. Mr Duncan Smith also explained that the Louvre used to be a Palace before it was an art gallery.
