GCSE Geography – Year 11 Trip to the Jurassic Coast

To enhance their studies a group of 26 yr 11 geographers went away to Dorset on the 27/28 February, staying at Lulworth Youth Hostel. On the way down we stopped at Barton on Sea to view coastal management techniques and cliff collapse – the students particularly enjoyed the fact you could see bits of people’s houses in the cliffs!  We then travelled to Weymouth to explore a coastal town, look at the sea wall and salt marshes. Then on to Chesil Beach to look at the tombolo, the students were extremely impressed with the magnificent views from the Isle of Portland. A peaceful night was then had at the youth hostel!!! On Sunday we visited Lulworth Cove and Stair Hole, enjoying the world famous Lulworth Crumple. The weather was fantastic and we enjoyed a lovely walk over the cliffs to look at Durdle Door, some students even braved the cold for a quick paddle.  Altogether it was a brilliant trip.

The students attending were;

Kaveya, Jaya, Clarisse, Denisa, Shaaminy, Marianne, Melissa, Myriam, Eleanor, Angelica, Rebecca Serhan, Charlie Anne, Nikolay, Radislav, Veselin, Berhan, Cameron, Abdelali, Danila, Dmitri, Balazs, Adam, Sufi, George, Arsalan and Ruhul.
