Barbican Young Poets Trip

RUSHCROFT VISIT TO THE BARBICAN CENTRE TO WATCH ‘THE ENCOUNTER’

On Thursday 25th February, twenty one Rushcroft students from Years 7 and 8 visited the Barbican Centre to watch a performance of ‘The Encounter’, written and performed by Simon McBurney.  This was a ground-breaking production involving 3-D sound and requiring the whole audience to wear headphones to experience the sounds and sensations of life in the Amazon jungle.  The show ran for two hours without an intermission.  It was an amazing one-man production which our students thoroughly enjoyed.

We were delighted with the attitude, behaviour and enthusiasm of all our students who brought great credit on themselves and Rushcroft.  The students selected to experience the production were drawn from Barbican Junior Poets 2015, the current Junior Poets 2016 and some of our London City Poets.  The gift of tickets for the performance from the Barbican was made in recognition of our successful ongoing working relationship with them.  The current crop of Barbican Junior Poets have already impressed the mentors with the quality of their work and their enthusiasm.
