RushcRoft Community Netball Club PHOENIX FLAMES A 'ROARING' SUCCESS!

Phoenix Flames Netball 2013

The club was formed as a result of the on-going Rushcroft Community Sports Coaching Program and part of England Netball's "Back to Netball " initative and now stands as its own independent club affiliated to England Netball.

The club has a Junior section (u11s) who train on Saturday Morning at Rushcroft from 9am - 11am. The Intermediates (u16s) train on Wednesday evening, 4.30pm - 6.30pm and the Adults(16+) train on Mondays at Rushcroft, 7.30pm - 9.30pm.

As a community club it is open to all members of the wider community and is free for Rushcroft staff and students to attend.

Head coach Ria Mills (former student) and Chris Hodge (Community Sports Coach Rushcroft) are the founder members and this week marks the first anniversary for the adults of Phoenix Flames NC. It has been a fantastic journey.

Chris Hodge says  ‘The players have made significant improvements, so much so that I was inundated on the side-line during their match with praise from other players, coaches and umpires, who witnessed our beginnings.’

‘To take it further we do need to increase the numbers of our teens attending the sessions. I have recently had a few 'A' Level PE students join us to up-skill themselves and the difference is fantastic. Please, please, please promote Phoenix Flames to as many teens as possible. It is pitched at the right level for all abilities to be able to get involved and we have great links to progress on those who are match ready (we currently have 5 under 14s playing matches for our link club Woodford Warriors). Ideally I would like to have u16, u14 and u11 teams to enter into the league alongside our adult team.’

‘Again, thank you all so much and I will keep you updated on how the matches go.’
